Crown Princess is the crown jewel of the Princess fleet. Its unique Crown Plaza is an atrium designed in the spirit of an Italian piazza where you can get a bite to eat or just relax and people-watch. Other highlights of this brand new ship include the Crown Grill, modeled after a classic steakhouse, the Sanctuary deck area, reserved just for adults, and Movies Under the StarsSM, our poolside movie theater.

As you would expect from a Princess ship, you will be spoilt for choice and will be free to do what you like, when you like.

We took a cruise on the Crown Princess in December departing from St Juan. Not sure if you are doing 7 or 14 nights. We did 14 nights which although marketed as a 14 night holiday is really 2 back to back cruises joined together. This means you get a different set of people on the second week and also means you have to go through St Juan customs clearance twice (if you want to know more about that then let me know). The atmosphere on board is very relaxed, we had anytime dinning which was really good, we never had to wait more that a few minutes for a table and sometimes not at all.

The flight we had was Flybe and was really good. Embarkation was quick and easy. We had a balcony cabin which was relatively spacious but the pullman beds were not arranged in the traditional manner (one being against each wall), they dropped down from the middle of the ceiling which made it difficult to get around the room when they were pulled down and you had to have a key to be able to get them down. We had a few bumped heads over the course of the holiday. We were located on Riviera Deck, which if there was a party or band playing on on deck was really (really)noisy. I would definately not recommend this deck.

The boat is very nice and showed no signs of the tipping incident, everything had been fixed. The food was really nice in both main dining rooms, we never felt the need to eat in the speciality dining areas, but did have a balcony dinner which came from the Crown Grill and was really excellent (the crab cakes were really exceptional).

We have two girls aged 6 & 7 and they absolutely loved the childrens club. We have been on many cruises (Celebrity, P&O, NCL) and both girls said this was the best kids club they had experienced. The childrens youth team are brilliant and even provided the girls with e-mail addresses to mail them upon our return. There are a lot of different cultures, one of the girls even learnt some Mandarin. They have many activities which include pottery, art etc. The club is free and they will even keep your children in the club while you go ashore, which did come in handy if you wanted to do some shopping and the children would get bored trailing around duty free shops.

I would definately cruise with Princess again, but I would be very careful on my choice of cabin location. I really dont think you will be dissapointed with the service, food or entertainment. Movies under the stars is great (stops you getting bored when sunbathing), although can sometimes be really loud. There are films on in the evening as well and they give you a blanket, padded sun loungers and popcorn (nice way to spend an evening). The drinks package is good for the children and worth the money. Everything on board is priced in US dollars, which is to the Brits advantage. We did not think anything particularly pricey (could give specifics if you want them).

Finally, I'm not sure what they put in the Pizza, but everyone on board was totally hooked on it (really good).
