| We stayed at the Landings for 6 nights in March. We so enjoyed St. Lucia and The Landings, we hope to return next year! The highlights of our trip: We were lucky to have beautiful, mostly sunny weather - not too humid or hot. Our top floor condo overlooking the beach was gorgeous! The furnishings, linens, and appliances are all top of the line. The bed was very comfy. The balconies are oversized - the balcony on our 3 bdrm unit was at least 4 times the size of a normal hotel balcony. The balcony and beach are the perfect vantage points for watching the sunsets and taking in the panoramic view of Rodney Bay and Pigeon Island. The hotel employees were so gracious, helpful and enthusiastic - they made us feel very welcome and comfortable. We had a couples massage at the spa and it was excellent. My husband loved it so much, he booked a second massage. The gym looked very nice, but we didn't get around to using it. :) The hotel hosts a weekly cocktail party for the guests. The appetizers were delicious and we enjoyed the live music. The hotel restaurant has a great location on the beach. We ate there a couple times. The food was hit (good fish) or miss (so-so pasta), and the menu was limited. It could use some improvement. St. Lucia isn't known for its beaches, but the hotel beach was one of the best we saw on the island. The bay water is so clear and calm, perfect for floating on the hotel rafts. Keep in mind there is still construction going on at the hotel. We couldn't hear it from our condo, balcony, or on the beach. You can see construction from the pool area, so we didn't hang out by the pool. We didn't mind the trade off - the rates are currently discounted for the construction and the hotel is one of the nicest on the island. I can't wait to see it once it's completed. Our favorite meals were: The Edge - fabulous food in a casual, but charming setting on the water. The Rainforest Hideaway - expensive but worth it. Delicious food and very romantic, overlooking Marigot Bay. Jambe de Bois on Pigeon Island - great for lunch before/after climbing Pigeon Point - tasty curry and tropical drinks, rustic atmosphere, patio dining overlooking Rodney Bay. You can walk there or take a boat from the hotel. KuDeTa - good Thai food in a nice setting. Big Chef - very good steaks in an upscale atmosphere. We did some sightseeing on the island. We rented a car one day, but driving on the left side along mtn roads wasn't that relaxing. I wish we'd hired a driver or done a boat/bus tour to the Pitons. We heard the zipline tour was fun, but we didn't fit that in. We were disappointed in our lunch at Ladera. The view was gorgeous, but the service was slow and unfriendly, and the food was expensive for what you get. It's worth stopping there for a drink in the bar to see the views, though. We did a day trip to the Grenadine Islands, which we booked through the hotel. Wow! The beaches and water there are amazingly beautiful and we loved swimming with the sea turtles -we saw 6 of them. The plane we took was tiny and old - not for the faint of heart. The tour we took was through "Captain Yanni". I'd recommend checking to see if other companies offer the same tour. We weren't overly impressed with the boat crew or the food served on the boat, but it's a great way to see the Grenadines since they're not that easy to get to from the US. |
